Oak Grove Residence
Originally built in the 1960s, this Montecito home was severely damaged in the 2018 debris flow. Working closely with the owners, our firm navigated the complex FEMA and local approval process to rebuild the home while taking the opportunity to thoughtfully reimagine it.
Rather than simply reconstructing what had been lost, we reconsidered the dated floor plan to create a stronger connection between the house and its beautiful one-acre setting. Interior spaces were opened and reorganized to bring in more natural light, capture views of the landscape, and encourage an easier flow between indoors and out.
The interiors were also completely refreshed with a restrained palette of natural materials and refined details; creating a home that feels sophisticated without being precious, and comfortable and understated in a way that reflects the owners themselves.
