Montecito Oaks
Working closely with the owners, we designed this new residence to feel both timeless and at home within its established Montecito neighborhood. Inspired by the simple agrarian structures of California wine country, the house is composed of familiar forms and natural materials intended to age gracefully and evolve with the family over time. The site presented a unique challenge. Located within FEMA’s post-Thomas Fire debris-flow recovery mapping, the home was carefully designed to respond to the new flood and debris-flow requirements without allowing those constraints to define the architecture. The result is a home that feels simple, grounded, and enduring; rooted in its California surroundings while flexible enough to accommodate the changing rhythms of family life for years to come.
